Carin H.
Constant, a prolific and interpretative creator of Fine Box Art
utilizes sight, form and memory within the context of historical
themes such as Greco-Roman Mythology, Aztec Images and Surrealist
Existentialism.
Her concept of "Box as TimeMachine" is achieved by
incorporating moving elements and applying reflective surfaces within
the interior space to imply perpetual mobility.
The final "outcome" of the Box becomes a visual concept
through the juxtaposition of new and old found objects.
The work can be compared to religious box shrines; but also possesses
a humorous dichotomy. Interestingly, these forms can be found in
either the sanctuary of orthodox churches or along any roadside
commemorating an accidental death.
Carin H. Constant is currently based in East Hampton, New York and
studied at Tulane
University and has her degree in Fine Arts from Lake Forest College.
She has completed courses at NYU Film School and Harvard University.
She has been producing this type of artistry since 1975 with
exhibitions in New York and Miami. Carin H. Constant is widely
recognized for her artistic precision combined with poetic expression.
